Sándor Gyula Nagy, the senior research fellow of IFAT hold a lecture in Rajk College for Advanced Studies with the title „Quo vadis Catalonia” as part the Freshmen course on 8th of November 2017.

The senior research fellow was talking to the interested public about the historical emergence of the Catalan nationalist and separatist movement, putting special focus on the turbulent periods of the 20th century's Spanish-Catalan relations and the last years' developments. Answering questions he emphasised the huge outflow of medium and bigger sized companies from the region, which reached in one month an astonishing number, more than 2000. These firms set their headquarters mostly to Valeincia or Madrid, which in medium term could turn to an outflow of workplaces loosing thousands or in worst case tens of thousands of jobs for Catalonia. He added furthermore that in one month the hotel reservations have fallen 25% compared to the September level, which shows a bad year for the tourism industry of mostly Barcelona.
