The Long Road to a New German Government – Replay or Reset?

The third grand coalition government of Chancellor Angela Merkel will be inaugurated on 14 March 2018. The aim of the discussion, which was held on 6 March, was to provide an overview of future German domestic, - foreign- and European politics, in accordance with the priorities of the new-old grand coalition. The discussion of two professors from the Andrássy University Budapest (AUB) was moderated by Tamás Levente Molnár, research fellow of the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade (IFAT).

The German government forming process was the main topic of the event at IFAT, which was held two days after it became certain, the grand coalition government in Germany will continue its work. Ulrich Schlie, Chair in Diplomacy and Founder of the Center for Diplomacy at the AUB, and Hendrik Hansen, Chair in International and European Politics and the Administrative Sciences Unit of the AUB participated in the event.
