On December 1, Director of IFAT, Márton Ugrósdy testified before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly on US president elect Joe Biden’s expected impact on international relations. In his testimony, Director Ugrósdy underlined that the US cannot simply return to its Obama-era foreign policy as the World has changed significantly in the last four years. For Hungary, the EU-US relationship will be one of the most important factors to watch, but Washington will have to decide whether it regards Europe as a partner or rival in both politics and trade. The prospects for Hungarian-US relations was presented by State Secretary Péter Sztáray of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, while the developments of US domestic politics was covered by Professor Tamás Magyarics of the Eötvös Loránd University, former director of our Institute.
